Any for-profit company, regardless of size, sector or location, can pursue B Corp certification. The process involves a rigorous assessment of your social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency, carried out through the B Impact Platform.
What are the requirements for the B Corp certification?
Becoming a B Corp means meeting two key pillars of the B Lab Standards: the Foundation Requirements and the Impact Topic Requirements.Together, they ensure your business is fundamentally eligible and taking meaningful action across social, environmental, and governance areas.
Meet Eligibility Requirements
Your company must be legally incorporated, in operation for at least 12 months, and generate a majority of revenue from a competitive market.
Commit to Stakeholder Governance
Adopt the B Corp Legal Requirement and sign the B Corp Declaration of Interdependence, embedding accountability to all stakeholders into your legal framework.
Meet requirements
Take meaningful action across seven key areas, from Fair Work to Climate Action – tailored to your size, sector, and risk profile.

Before certification begins, B Lab defines your certification scope – covering your legal entities, sites, size, sector, and geographic locations under one sustainability management system.
This scope determines your certification track, audit frequency, and use of branding. Once documented, you will be moving into the requirements for your business
